The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine A.B.U. Zaria is arguably the best Veterinary school in the country offering the highest quality training with rigorous scientific enquiry backed by outstanding practical experience second to none.Housed near the University North gate and somewhat between the duo of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine, we aim to provide a fulfilling and rounded experience at both undergraduate and post graduate levels..
Our Faculty and Veterinary Teaching Hospital through its students and dedicated staff have been providing excellent services to the public since its inception and is referral centre in both teaching and diagnostic services. We strike for excellence and dedicated and is seen by the wide variety and diversity and strength of our courses and programs we offer.
Mission, Vision and Philosophy
The mission of the programme is to train Veterinary Doctors with the sound knowledge of modern Veterinary Medicine and capable of teaching, treatment and prevention of animal diseases with special impacts on the local tropical environmental conditions. The trained Veterinary Doctor is also expected to prevent the consumption of livestock products unfit for human consumption to be sold or made available to the population; thus prevent the transmission of Zoonotic diseases from animals to man.
